Through the Family and Faith program, parents – as the first educators of their children – are invited into a deeper and more intimate relationship with the person of Jesus Christ.

St Vincent's Catholic Primary School Ashfield Family and Faith

The Family and Faith program is an initiative of Sydney Catholic Schools, in response to the New Evangelisation agenda. St Vincent’s College, Ashfield is fortunate to have a family educator.

The role of the family educator is to nurture strong and meaningful parish, parent, and school relationships and to explore new models of supporting the spiritual, social and educational formation of families. The family educator is based within the school and works closely with the parish priest and parish pastoral associate.

Our family educator invites our school, parish and precinct community to a variety of spiritual events, information sessions and activities. These events and programs provide opportunities that aim to:

  • strengthen the faith of parents
  • connect families with the religious life of the school and the parish
  • strengthen the relationships between the school, families and parish
  • provide further energy and support to families in the development of their child – spiritually, socially and educationally.

The College offers a sacramental program that aims to connect interested students and their families to their parishes. In completing the ‘Initiate’ program students and staff can learn more intimately about our Catholic faith and receive the Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. This program involves members of the community from both the parish and the school co-facilitating a meaningful program of evangelisation to those in our community who are seeking to learn more about our Catholic faith.

Families are invited to participate in opportunities to strengthen their faith through Social Justice initiatives.
